In “Discovering the Systems Thinking” (Turkmen, 2010), I attempted to explore the systems thinking in the venue of scientific organizations within a globalized domain where interdependencies on external forces are ever augmenting. This paper deals with the theory of social systems. It borrows insights from Niklas Luhmann's system theory, which considers social differentiation and system formation as the basic characteristics of modern society. This also means that systems theory and the theory of society are mutually dependent (Bechmann, 2002). I intend to obtain a true understanding of this relationship and how this bond shapes the complexities and contingencies in the world of societies, organizations and networks we live in today.
